PAINTBALL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ What is paintball?

Paintball combines childhood games such as "tag" and "hide and seek" but in a much more challenging and sophisticated way. The object of the game is for players to eliminate opponents by tagging them with a paintball. The equipment needed to play consists of a paintball gun, a pressurized gas tank, a comfortable ventilated mask, and paintballs. Each game typically lasts around 5-10 minutes. Between games, players take a break to check their equipment, get more paintballs, and have a snack or drink while they share their "war" stories. Win or lose, everyone has a great time and there's usually another game waiting to start shortly.

+ Is paintball dangerous?

Paintball is one of the safest activities out there. There are several safety measures we put in place to make sure players stay safe: (1) a safety speech is given before you can play; (2) using only industry approved paintball masks; (3) paintball gun velocities are checked to make sure maximum limits are not exceeded to prevent injuries. Davis Paintball also has highly trained referees to ensure that everyone follows the rules and stays safe to maximize the fun!

+ Ok, so paintball is safe, but does paintball hurt?

Sometimes it can. A player will usually only feel a slight sting that quickly fades, similar to a flick of a rubber band. How much a paintball hurts also depends on how much padding and protection you wear. If you are only dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, expect some small bruises that will fade in a few days, while sweatshirts and thicker clothing will usually prevent bruising. Davis Paintball also takes extra precaution to keep you safe by making sure all paintball markers shoot under the legal limit of 285 feet per second and we strictly enforce a 10 foot surrender rule. With the adrenaline flowing from the fun games, the hits will be barely noticed.

+ What are paintballs made of?

A paintball is a round, gelatine capsule similar to large round vitamin capsules or bath oil bead. The fill inside is non-toxic, water soluble and biodegradable, which usually rinses out of clothing with laundry detergent.

+ I've never played before. Will I be "out-gunned"?

No, beginners only play other beginners. We take great care in separating players based on their skill levels. Players who are renting equipment will ONLY play other players renting equipment that day and be placed in our rental only (beginner) games. The more advanced players will be placed in our intermediate and advanced games. We want to ensure that you have a great time at Davis Paintball!

+ Can I wear glasses and play paintball?

Definitely! Glasses will fit comfortably under our rental masks.

+ What should I wear?

We encourage players to wear pants and a long-sleeve shirt or a sweatshirt. The paint does wash out, but remember that you will be running and crawling so you may get dirty. That's the fun! Please take that into consideration when figuring out what to wear. Comfortable shoes such as tennis shoes or hiking boots are also highly recommended.

+ How old do I have to be to play?

Traditional paintball players need to be 10 years or older, Low impact paintball players need to be 8 years or older, and Ultra Low Impact players need to be 6 years or older. For players under 18, we need to have their parent/guardian sign our waiver before the child can play. You can download the waiver at home, print and sign it, and then give the waiver to your child to bring into Davis Paintball when they come to play. The parent does not need to be present at the field.
